![]() There is a 1937 cocktail book which contains a recipe which has the same ingredients and concentrations as the classic margarita. Historian David Wondrich states that margarita is a variation of a popular cocktail called "the Daisy" but made with tequila instead of brandy as the original recipe called for. Some suggest that it was first mixed in Juárez in 1942 by one Francisco "Pancho" Morales. There are several claims about the origins of margarita. It's ok to serve a margarita in a variety of glasses, but traditionally, the authentic margarita is served in the eponymous margarita glass. But you are more than welcome to add ice to the drink, it's perfectly cool (no pun intended). Used 1/2oz of simple syrup, perfect amount to subtle sweetness and tartness. Try this one and you will leave the BA poor substitute forever. 3 parts Tequila, 2 parts Triple Sec, 1 part fresh lemon juice, 1 part fresh lime juice. Sometimes I add sliced jalapenos to the sugar water mix when making the simple syrup for a little kick! ![]() You may adjust the sweetness to your own taste with the simple syrup. a Tequila Sour has lemon, bitters & egg white in addition to the the lime & tequila… So this is definitely not that. NO it’s not “authentic” but it’s damned tasty to me. I use pretty decent tequila and prefer the taste of that, no need for triple sec. This is pretty much how I make mine, but use agave nectar instead of simple syrup and add fresh squeezed Orange juice as well.
